Castello di Postignano, an Inspiring Hamlet in Italy’s Green Heart
The village of Castello di Postignano, rebuilt by the visionary architect Gennaro Matacena after severe earthquakes, is a masterpiece of the Umbrian medieval construction style. This unique location offers the workshop participants accommodation in comfortable double rooms with full board in the multi-building hotel – a wonderful ambience with views of forests and hills. The restaurant ‘La Casa Rosa’ and the integrated bar with a large terrace and unparalleled views is perfect for sunny and tasty meal breaks and for relaxing cold drinks in the evenings. The swimming pool at the foot of the mountain hamlet provides a refreshing, relaxing experience during those times when there are no classes.
The village possesses various classrooms with pianos.
The rose garden, a covered area measuring 200 square metres with open views of the surrounding landscape, can also be used as a teaching venue.
Final concert in the restored village church:
The small medieval church of St Lorenzo, which houses a fresco that was rediscovered when it was rebuilt, is viewed as a place of encounter all year round. Artists and intellectuals from all around the world come here to communicate with a select audience. For the past three years now the Castello di Postignano has organized a programme during the summer months where lectures, book presentations, conferences, classical concerts and art exhibitions alternate.
The final concert of the LiberaInCanto Workshop will be part of this programme.
