Eight years ago, at the urging and encouragement of many young artists, NBC began to dedicate some of her time to coaching and teaching alongside her well – established and on- going solo career in opera.
Born in Germany, and raised in Spain, the singer-actress came to the classical genre via rock, jazz, street theatre and cabaret.
NBC exhibits a particularly artistic profile in which her experiences as a dancer, instrumentalist and actress enrich her portrayal of operatic figures.
The creation of ‘LIBERAinCANTO’ is the logical progression of the workshop ‘InCantoTignano’ (2013–2018), which was initiated by NBC. It stems from the great need to create places of artistic encounter. The opera business is increasingly demanding more than just musical and vocal talent; singers must now master acting and the creative dimension to equal measure. The job of a singer is associated with many clichés and the pressure of expectation. Paradoxically, however, one key requirement in order to even survive in this field is that singers can develop and maintain their very own artistic voice.
The village of Castello di Postignano, rebuilt by the visionary architect Gennaro Matacena after severe earthquakes, is a masterpiece of the Umbrian medieval construction style. This unique location offers the workshop participants accommodation in comfortable double rooms with full board in the multi-building hotel – a wonderful ambience with views of forests and hills. The restaurant ‘La Casa Rosa’ and the integrated bar with a large terrace and unparalleled views is perfect for sunny and tasty meal breaks and for relaxing cold drinks in the evenings. The swimming pool at the foot of the mountain hamlet provides a refreshing, relaxing experience during those times when there are no classes.
